Meet the Speakers
Olivier Pascal
Olivier PASCAL (France) is an Action Sports activist. At the age of 6, he first felt in love with
Skateboarding, then later with Snowboarding, Surfing and Enduro MTB. Sports that he still
practices nowadays.
After a Social Economic Bachelor, and a 4 years business school specialized in international
commerce, Olivier joins the Action Sports industry in 2001. During 2 decades, Olivier leads
the International Development of the well-known Action Sports Company – Hurricane. He
establishes plenty of Major International Events as well as dozens of international standards
skateparks around the globe.
Working closely with International Federations and the IOC, he also contributes to the Urban
Sports inclusion at the Olympic Games, and the integration of the Urban Park concept.
Since 2017, Olivier chairs the Roller Freestyle Technical Commission and is now Director of
Events Development at World Skate.
Jenna Downing
Former World Champion Inline Skater, International Judge, Speaker, Author & Trainer
Jenna Downing (Great Britain)) is a former World Champion Inline Skater, an X-Games silver medallist and a 10 x British Champion. A natural competitor, Jenna has competed in inline skating events since the tender age of 7 and has amassed a lifetime of awards competing across the globe in televised and major international events. After turning professional at the age 12, there was no stopping her and Jenna has gone on to become an institution in British rollerblading. Her ‘Jenna Downing’ signature pro skate, Sporting Ambassador award and her UK Freesports Athlete of the year award are testament to her fantastic ability and commitment to her chosen sport.
Now, Jenna works as an author, international skating judge, mentor, speaker and coach. She also runs her own award winning coaching company ‘Wheels Extreme.’
Jenna has a MSc in Psychology (where she obtained a Distinction) and a BA in Law.
Borja Fernández
Former World Champion Athlete & National Coach Engineer & Founder of Freeskate Academy | Athlete, Freeskier, Coach & Skatepark Consultant World Skate International Judge
Borja Fernández is a Spanish professional inline skater, computer science engineer from the
University of Deusto, and international expert in Roller Freestyle. With over 30 years of experience
in high-level sports, he became Amateur World Champion at the age of 16 in Dallas, was a Red Bull
athlete, and Euro X-Games Champion in 2002. He has also served as National Coach of Spain and is
currently an International Judge for World Skate, having officiated at the last three World
Championships in Argentina, Italy, and Japan across Street, Park, and Vert disciplines.
Borja is one of the developers of the World Skate Judges Academy, contributing to both its structure
and educational content. His teaching focuses on judging criteria, judging duties, and discipline-
specific evaluation in Street and Vert. His unique perspective combines experience as an elite
athlete, coach, and judge, bringing a comprehensive and international vision to the development of
future judges.
Erika Ruiz
Erika Ruiz is an sports professional, university professor, and the current Chair of World Skate America Roller Freestyle. A natural leader in the skating community, Erika Ruiz is also a Skate IA Certified Inline Skating Instructor across Level I, Level II, and skatepark disciplines (grassroots). With an extensive background working alongside prestigious international federations like FIFA and World Skate, she has successfully run and support local, national and international sporting events.
This deep industry expertise and commitment to athletic growth are testament to an ability to lead, teach, and innovate within the sport. She combines these activities with her current job as an entrepreneur and long time clinical sports independent practice.
Erika Ruiz holds a Master’s degree in Physical Activity and Health, alongside a degree in Physiotherapy, specialising in Manual Therapy and Physical Exercise. Her career choices reflect the impact of skating in her life.
